KINETEC GROUP

Kinetec have existed for more than 40 years in Charleville-Mezieres, France. Set up initially by physiotherapist M. Jean-Claude Pecheux under the name Cogemo, the initial vision of Kinetec was to sell orthopaedic traction frames.

Following on from the groundbreaking research carried out into the field of CPM (continuous passive motion) therapy by Dr Robert Salter in the mid-1970’s, Monsieur Pecheux invented the first CPM device that could be used with the knee in 1978 which was initially sold only in France. In the years that followed, the products begun to sell internationally following his attendance at a number of international exhibitions.

The American company Richards acquired Kinetec in 1986, where it became Smith & Nephew Kinetec several months later as Richards was acquired, leading to significant expansion of the business due to the existing Smith & Nephew country network which resulted in the sales of CPM’s in more than 60 countries worldwide. With further acquisitions of the holding companies, by Ability One in 2002 nad by Patterson Medical in 2003, Kinetec continued to grow, designing and providing high quality rehabilitation devices including traction frames and active passive devices in addition to CPM’s.

In 2013, the MedFac group acquired Kinetec which led to the establishment of a new office in the USA in 2014, followed by Kinetec Medical Products UK Ltd in 2016.

Kinetec Group

Over the last few years, Kinetec have expanded their available product portfolio into niche areas of orthopaedic rehabilitation, like the active motion therapy range called Kinetec Kinevia which launched in 2015. This was followed by a range of hot and cold devices, under the name Kinetec Kooler, that were designed to assist with orthopaedic rehabilitation, and the launch of the Manosplint thermoplastic range in 2016.

Kinetec have continued the development of innovative devices from its home and roots in Charleville-Mezieres where the factory aims to continue to provide medical products of outstanding quality, supported by an exceptional level of service and support. The UK and USA offices provide warehousing, distribution, sales and marketing for the range of Kinetec products, as well as offering country exclusive product ranges such as Pulman and FootCare medical shoes in the UK.
