Splinting

Stick an adhesive ribbon on the distal part of the limb and let an extra 10cm hanging down.

Apply the stockinette avoiding any crease. Cover with foam padding with 50% overlap. Two - three layers will be sufficient. Extra layers should protect any bony prominences.

Cut Vet-Lite sheets in a triangle following the curve of the limb. Use 2 or 3 layers depending on the size of the animal.

The sheets should be cut a little longer than the finished splint; this will allow to fold over the Vet-Lite sheet for a rounded border.

Make a strengthening corner ribbon on the splint main axis and apply the splint on the anterior face of the limb.

The extra 10 cm of adhesive ribbon will be folded over and attached above the cast. Secure the splint with a Velpo wrapping.
